“We are expecting the meeting of the European Council which will be held in June and we’re hoping to have a clear recommendation. We expect a clear and unconditional recommendation for the opening of negotiations with Albania”.
This declaration was made from Tirana by MEP Knut Fleckenstein. According to him, the latest protests held in Albania will not have an impact on this process, stating that protests remain a democratic instrument.
“I don’t want to comment on this case, but nobody should opt for violence. However, from what I learned, the protest had its effects, because new ideas have come out on this issue. The government doesn’t always have the right solution. Sometimes, people should show the government that there are limits”, Fleckenstein said.
Fleckenstein said that these 6 months are very important for Albania. /balkaneu.com/
