After yesterday’s second round of voting in the local government elections in FYROM, different institutions and organizations have come out with their assessments. The State Election Commission said that the elections were democratic, with very few irregularities. The head of this commission, Aleksandar Cicakovski said that once political parties lodge their complaints, then this commission will come out with a final report on the holding of local government elections.
But, the members of VMRO-DPMNE in the State Election Commission boycotted the news conference.
Civil organization “Most” has reported some irregularities. “Irregularities have been identified. In some communes, people have voted by being accompanied by party activists, while there have also been cases of family voting. Meanwhile, we have also seen cases where voters have photographed their vote”, Darko Aleksov, representative of this organization which has monitored the elections with 2917 observers, said.
Meanwhile, OSCE-ODIHR is also expected to come out with its assessments on the elections. /balkaneu.com/
