On the first day of his stay in Washington, PM Edi Rama held a visit in the USAID headquarters, where he met with the General Administrator of the largest state agency of aid in the United States of America.
Prime Minister Rama briefed Mrs. Smith on the reforms undertaken by the Albanian government. Rama demanded more cooperation and support by USAID for the regional center against violent extremism that will be built in Tirana.
Mr. Rama also demanded more support by USAID for the continuation of the modernization of public services in Albania, as an efficient way to fight corruption.
Administrator Smith offered USAID’s full support “on the project of the introduction of educating curriculums for religious creeds in school programs”.
“If the new generation, not only in Albania, but everywhere in the world, will be educated on religious creeds, it will be hard to fall a victim of extremist manipulations and this is something big today everywhere, including Europe”, Smith said. /ibna/
