Fight against corruption  in Kosovo

Djakovica was the next commune where the Agency Against Corruption held a debate dubbed “Progress Report-Challenges of the fight against corruption and prevention of corruption in Kosovo”.

The head of the Anti Corruption Agency, Hasan Preteni said during this debate that procurement and tenders are enabling corruption.

“No senior official can be corrupted if nobody assists him. Therefore, I believe that people who work in institutions do possess information and do not collaborate with us. The biggest problem on this phenomenon exist in the domain of procurement and tenders”, Preteni said.

The mayor of Djakovica, Mimoza Kusari-Lila said that the commune cooperates with the Anti Corruption Agency, not only on the measures of prevention, but also on the exchange of information.

Ilaz Duli, expert of procurement on the Anti  Corruption Agency funded by the World Bank, said that Kosovo’s greatest challenge in the aspect of the prevention of corruption is the improvement and implementation of legislation.

During the debate it was also said that the word corruption was mentioned 62 times in the Progress Report on Kosovo. /ibna/
