On July 30, Nicosia is expected to give the green light to the consortium of Exxon Mobil – Qatar Petroleum to continue -more specifically in the last quarter of 2018- to conduct exploratory drillings in block 10 of the Cypriot EEZ.

According to “Phileleftheros” newspaper of Cyprus, the first concern of the consortium is the exploration of the “Delphini” field and, according to findings, the “Antheia” and “Glafkos” fields to the south and north respectively.

Based on the present planning, Exxon Mobil, will have concluded the entire preparation phase and will have secured the two drilling operations at Unit 10, having obtained the right drilling rig. This drilling rig, which is under the British flag, belongs to a shipping giant based in London and Cyprus and offers the ability to do drills up to 35,000 feet deep into sensitive environmental and changing conditions of strong pressure.

In addition, Exxon Mobil has signed an agreement with Medserv Energy, which offers a variety of services at the port of Larnaca to support offshore exploration activities in the EEZ of Cyprus.
