“FYROM has made progress in the implementation of reforms, but several issues need to be addressed before the accession in the European Union. There is no accession in the EU without the solution of the name contest.” This was said today in Skopje by the EU ambassador, Samuel Zbogar, who presented the progress report on FYROM which is part of the European Commission’s strategy on strategy on Western Balkans.
As far as the name dispute is concerned, he said that things are going well, while the coming six months are very important.
These evaluations have also been made by the EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn from Brussels during the presentation of the strategy. Hahn said that the agreement for good neighboring relations with Bulgaria and the process for the solution of the name dispute has been considered as positive, but the EU is expecting a successful finalization of the process. /balkaneu.com/
