European Enlargement Commissioner, Johannes Hahn has called on political dialogue to start and for the political crisis in FYROM to be solved. He issued this message after the meeting that he held in Brussels with the deputy prime minister for European Integration of FYROM, Fatmir Besimi.
“I’d like to demand to political parties to be involved in a political dialogue in parliament and not outside it. I would like to see the opposition in parliament and if I can contribute for its return, I will do it. I will visit FYR Macedonia in January, in order to talk to all political parties and achieve progress”, declared European commissioner Johannes Hahn.
Mr. Hahn also talked about the solution of the name dispute, which is a dispute lasting for several years between Skopje and Athens.
“We discussed about a possible solution which would suit each state. For the moment, we cannot say more than this, but I assure you that the situation must be unblocked in all countries, not only in your country. Consensus is needed in the European Union Council and for this, we must convince all the countries”, said Hahn, who a week ago, announced a new approach of the European Union for the solution of the name dispute, if UN brokerage doesn’t offer any results.
In this meeting, the member of the government in FYROM, Fatmir Besimi has reported on the reforms and priorities of the government in delivering the obligations for EU accession. /ibna/
