The European Commission (EC) has allocated a 23 million Euro grant for the development of agriculture in rural communes of FYR Macedonia.

The funds will be used for two projects-one for infrastructure and the other for irrigation.

“This project supports equal regional development and the development of rural countries. The project is in line with the priorities of the government and the priorities of the European agenda for equal regional development”, declared Zoran Stavrevski, minister of Finance.

EU ambassador to Skopje, Aivo Orav said that this grant is expected to improve quality of life in rural areas.

“With the signing of these agreements, 23 million Euros of EU money and national funds will go to rural areas and their residents. I believe that this offers an excellent opportunity to achieve what Europe has achieved, to care about people living in rural areas”, declared Orav. /ibna/
