EULEX judge issue a prison sentence of 13 years for the group of “Llapi”

A EULEX judge in the Court of First Instance in Pristina has issued a 13 years prison sentence for the defendants accused of war crimes in the trial against the so called Group of “Llapi”. Based on the ruling, Latif Gashi was sentenced to 6 years in prison, the commander of the operative zone of Llap, Rrustem Mustafa was given a 4 year prison sentence and Nazif Mehmeti was given a 3 year prison sentence.

The ruling to remand the defendants into custody has not yet been issued, as the ruling is not final.

Rrustem Mustafa is a former MP and vice chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo.

EULEX judges found the defendants guilty on counts of war crimes perpetrated in the prison of Llapashtice during the war in 1998 and 1999. /ibna/
