EULEX continues its operation against organized crime

EULEX police mission backed by Kosovo Police still continue their raid for the capture of several people in several locations.

Around 350 police officers have raided around 42 locations, in an effort to arrest some 40 suspects as part of a criminal investigation under way.

Kosovo Prosecution said that six people were arrested during this operation. Authorities also said that the investigation relates to a big criminal group which has been active as of 2006 with members from Kosovo and Serbia, led by PDK’s lawmaker, Azem Syla. This group is accused of expropriation and alienation of public property, money laundering, forgery of official documents and bribery.

The leader of this group, Azem Syla, an MP, is at large at the moment. IBNA learns that police have been looking for him in the past 10 days.

President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci has backed the operation carried out by Police of Kosovo and EULEX. Thaci said that all of those who are part of the investigation must fully cooperate with police and prosecution. /
