Skopje – May 7, 2013 – The European Union Ambassador in Skopje, Orav Aivo urged the political parties in FYRO Macedonia to intensify the their political dialogue and to advance the country towards the EU integration plan.
“You must make progress on the path towards the EU. We hope that your country will do this in an active and a flawless way. The spring report was positive, but there were also negative elements, which must be tackled as soon as possible. The first and foremost is the implementation of the March 1 agreement”, stressed the Lithuanian diplomat that chairs the EU embassy in Skopje, Aivo Orav.
The European diplomat demanded the establishment of a Commission which will shed light upon the December 24 events in the Parliament of FYRO Macedonia. Recently, the European Union has encouraged authorities to shed light upon the violence of December 24 in the Parliament of FYROM, where the opposition was taken out of the ballot room, as it had blocked the approval of the 2013 budget. This situation later led to the boycott of parliament by the opposition and the threat for boycott in the March 24 elections. But, with the intervention of the EU Enlargement Commissioner, Stefan Fule, the majority and opposition reached an agreement, as a step forward in solving the political deadlock. But, even after the local elections, there haven’t been any incentives to resume political dialogue and to resolve the events of December 24 last year. /ibna/
