EU member countries’ representatives in Kosovo and head of the EU office to Pristina, have demanded, in a joint statement, from political parties to continue the talks with Serbia.
“We reiterate the great importance of the continuation of the talks brokered by the EU, at a political and technical level, in a constructive way and driven by results, leading to a sustainable normalization of relations with Serbia. This engagement will have a direct impact in Kosovo’s EU perspective and in its vital interest”, reads the statement.
Brussels also expects the next government of Kosovo to continue with the implementation of agreements and engage in taking normalization forward.
The declaration says that the need to solve the political crisis after the early parliamentary elections of June 8.
“The European Union has observed the parliamentary elections in Kosovo and has been satisfied with the fairness and transparency that characterized them. We are also following the democratic constitution of parliament, as a step which will be followed by the formation of a legitimate government. We continue to stick to our principle of not meddling with the domestic affairs of Kosovo which must be addressed by their elected leaders.
We hope that a government will soon be formed in order to address the numerous challenges that Kosovo faces, such as the economy, improvement of the living standards, rule of law, European agenda and the continuation of the normalization of relations with Serbia”, reads the declaration. /ibna/
