Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi stated on Wednesday that the European Union could afford to allocate 38 million euros to help the Western Balkan countries respond to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
On Wednesday, Varhelyi wrote to all Prime Ministers of the Western Balkan countries to confirm the EU’s intentions to support them in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I wrote to Prime Ministers of our Western Balkans partners to confirm we stand by the region in fight against the coronavirus outbreak. We are allocating € 38 million for immediate support to health sectors and foreseeing over € 373 million reallocation for social and economic recovery”, Varhelyi wrote on Twitter. /ibna
