The European Union has decided to stimulate the fishing sector in Albania by offering a grant of 3.4 million euros.
1.9 million euros will be spent for technical assistance, 100 thousand euros will be spent for the fishing administration and 1.4 million euros for the implementation of the grant scheme. Meanwhile, all public institutions may apply for these EU grants until 11 September.
The EU’s incentive has been taken after concluding that the fishing sector in Albania has great unexploited potential.
Meanwhile, the National Fleet Register counts 592 fishing boats and 4215 people employed in this sector at the moment. /balkaneu.com/
