The European Union will continue to support Albania on issues concerning national minorities, in order for these minorities to enjoy equal rights in a society where they contribute every day.
This was declared today by the EU ambassador to Tirana, Romana Vlahutin.
“Respecting national minorities means supporting different identifies and diversity that enriches our societies. Minority rights are part of the five key priorities for Albania and they will remain at the top of the EU agenda”, she said.
Meanwhile, according to the minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati, the process of drafting bylaws for the Bill on Minorities is proof of the will that there exists to approve this bill.
According to him, “in this long-term challenge, it’s important to become promoters of political consensus in order to avoid any rhetoric that poisons the understanding that exists between us”. /ibna/
