EU ambassador to Skopje, Aivo Orav said that EU expects FYR Macedonia to hold free and democratic elections.
“Brussels expects a fair electoral process and we welcome the Euro Atlantic approaches of the political parties who engage for free and democratic elections”, said Orav following the meeting that he held today with the leader of Democratic Union for Integration (BDI).
After this meeting, Ahmeti said that the talks focused on the holding of early parliamentary elections and presidential elections and also on the Euro Atlantic prospects after the elections.
“We’re convinced that the elections will be held in a democratic atmosphere and in compliance with the expectations of the international community. We’re focused on fulfilling our priorities after the parliamentary elections and the priority of BDI is the integration of the country in the NATO and EU”, said Ahmeti, inviting Brussels to intensify the efforts in FYR Macedonia after the parliamentary elections.
Ahmeti underlined that BDI is aiming to win the majority of the votes of Albanians and to be mandated by citizens in order to fulfill those objectives. /ibna/
