European Union Enlargement Commissioner, Johannes Hahn declared today that the European Union demands a legal and political solution of the crisis in FYR Macedonia. Hahn made these comments after the meeting between EU foreign ministers and PM Nikola Gruevski in Brussels.
“The positioning of the European union for the solution of the political crisis in Macedonia is clear. There must be a two dimensional solution: legal solution and a political solution”, underlined commissioner Hahn.
Commissioner Hahn also demanded for the opposition to come back to parliament and appoint an inquiry committee for the investigation of the events.
“We have specified that the rule of law must be respected and there must be a full inquiry”, said EU Commissioner Hahn in relation to the wiretapping scandal made public by the Macedonian opposition and which relates to corruption and criminal scandals involving government officials, but also the so called “Putsch” affair through which opposition leader Zoran Zaev is accused of treason and cooperation with foreign secret services in order to ruin democratic order in the country.
He added that Brussels is aware about the situation in FYROM and the European Commission’s positioning is clear that the political crisis must be overcome. According to him, EU member countries are not happy about the latest developments in FYROM. /ibna/
