EU ambassador to Kosovo, Samuel Zbogar has met with the representatives of the Independent Union of RTK (Radio Television of Kosovo) and the board of directors, where he has expressed Brussels’ concern about the accusations for political intervention and pressure in the editorial policies followed by the public network.
Zbogar has heard all the sides about the problems that have recently emerged at this network.
“For the European Union, the public broadcaster is very important and it must be independent and away from political influences. In Kosovo’s case, it’s clear that there are problems that affect this important role of RTK. What the European Union believes it’s more worrying relates to the accusations for political intervention and pressure”, declared Zbogar following the meetings that he had.
The head of the EU office to Kosovo has demanded from the independent union of RTK and the board of this public medium to reestablish the communication that has been missing.
“I call on the union and the board of directors of the network to reestablish communication and address open issues together”, he added. /ibna/
