The EU Office in Skopje has issued a press release today to express its stances in relation to the visit of the EU Enlargement Commissioner, Johannes Hahn to Skopje.
“All political leaders must collaborate in order to overcome the current situation, which doesn’t help the efforts to implement the reforms in the country. They must engage in constructive dialogue in parliament, focusing on the strategic priorities of the country and its citizens”, reads the press release of the EU office, one day after the visit of the EU Enlargement Commissioner to Skopje.
“The rule of law, human rights, freedom of media are the key to the process of integration in the European Union”, said Hahn. In this context, he has also expressed his deep concern in relation to reports for the eavesdropping of thousands of people.
Hahn said that as far as this issue is concerned, there must be transparent investigations and there’s a need to guarantee the independence of the judicial system.
“The European Commission is in contact with the authorities about the situation with the floods, the assessment of the caused damages and the possibility of EU aid”, reads the press release issued by the EU office to Skopje. /ibna/
