Kosovo will benefit 57 million Euros from the fifth component of IPA funds for rural development.
Minister of European Integration, Bekim Collaku says that the implementation of these projects will take place from 2016 until 2018.
“These projects will be funded by the EU and will have an impact in the agricultural sector and rural development as one of the strategic priorities of the government of Kosovo. In this framework, these actions will help in the improvement of competition in the agri-food sector in Kosovo, the improvement of living conditions among the population in rural areas and improvement of food safety and growth of food export”, Collaku said.
An important role in this aspect will also be played by the Stabilization and Association Agreement, which according to him, will offer numerous opportunities for domestic producers.
Collaku says that two subsectors have been identified in order to be backed and this is agricultural and rural development and food safety and veterinary.
“This means support for farmers, agri processing industry and rural diversification. 32 million euros have been allocated for the full implementation of this project”, Collaku says.
Minister Collaku says that the rest of the funds will go for the promotion of social dialogue and the transferring of knowledge on innovation, support on the standards of food safety in Kosovo in compliance with “acquis” and there will also be support for the improvement of the collection of systematic data and the generation of statistics in line with EU demands. /ibna/
