EU allocates 32 million euros for energy in Western Balkans

Energy efficiency and fight against climate change are two of the objectives that the EU is aiming to achieve through the 32 million euro budget that it has allocated for Western Balkans. This was announced by EU Enlargement Commissioner, Johannes Hahn during the meeting held with the energy ministers of the six Western Balkan states, which is taking place in Podgorica.

“The funds are destined for a transition to greener energy, in order for the region to comply as soon as possible with the EU’s environmental standards and Paris accord”, Hahn explained.

“Western Balkans has great potential in the energy sector”, commissioner Hahn stressed, encouraging the ministers of the six countries to overcome “political hurdles and bilateral issues”. /ibna/
