In his speech at the Turkish Parliament, Recep Tayyip Erdogan explained Turkey’s policy in the Eastern Mediterranean.
He said: “One important issue for our country are the attitudes that do not take into account the interests, aspirations and rights of Turkey and the ‘Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ in (plans regarding) the Eastern Mediterranean. I have to repeat that in no step can be taken either in Cyprus otthe Aegean if Turkey does not give the green light.”
The Turkish president said that “the people who try to ignore us in the region, must understand that they are jeopardising their very existence. Like in every matter (concerning us), in the cases of the Aegean and Cyprus, who also go for a “kazan-kazan” (“win-win”) situation. Those who lead these issues to a stage of conflict or crisis, while there is another way (to deal with them) will first answer for them to their people”, he said…. / IBNA
