“We will not leave free room to the thieves in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Aegean”, stated the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, at the ceremony for the delivery of the 3rd Corvette, constructed in Turkish shipyards, to the Turkish Navy.
“In no way, will we allow attempts to violate the rights linked with the natural resources in the Eastern Mediterranean, which Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus are entitled to. Those who think they will be able to take steps (and do things) in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean without Turkey must already know how wrong they are. The same way we have taught a lesson to terrorists in Syria, the same way we will prevent the thieves of the seas” (from acting freely), he said.
He also stated the importance Ankara places on the shipbuilding programme and stressed that “as long as our Corvettes go into the service of our fleet, our voice in the seas will sound more powerful.”/IBNA
