In his statements at the G-20 summit, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that “in the matter of sanctions, Mr Trump in his statements today made it clear and we heard it from him that such a thing would not happen. It is important that on the one hand we are buying the S-400 but from the US we are buying Boeing aircrafts. We are buying 100 Boeing. But we need to make it clear that with the US we are strategic partners. But in this collaboration it is not right to interfere with our sovereign rights.
On the F-35 issue we have paid USD 1.4 billion to the US. And we are not buyers but co-producers. We already received 4 fighters. Our goal is to buy 116 F-35s. But the announcements made by some lower staff do not keep up with the statements made by the president (Trump). I think there can be no sanctions between partners”, he said/ibna
