Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived at Bosnia Herzegovina on an official visit. In the states capital, Sarajevo, he will speak with the chairman of the BiH presidency, Bakir Izetbegović.
The visit was described as an official and “working” one but not a state visit, since he will not meet the other two members of the BiH presidency. As it was announced earlier, Erdogan will address the participants of the 6th Congress of Union of European Turkish Democrats (UETD). This event is in fact Erdogan’s election rally which he intended to hold in some other European states but they refused to give allow him access. It is estimated that between 15 and 20 thousand Turkish citizens from almost all European countries came to Sarajevo to attend the meeting.
Sarajevo citizens have different opinions about this event since not all of them support Erdogan. Most citizens in Bosnia and Herzegovina think that this visit will also help Izetbegović to take some political advantage in his election campaign ahead of the general elections in the autumn of this year…. / IBNA
