EPP president Daul voices his concern about the state of democracy in Albania

Judging by the strong declarations being made by political leaders and the heated debates and insults heard in parliament each Thursday, it needs to be said that the political situation in the country is quite turbulent.

This situation has also become a cause for concern for the international community. The president of the European People’s Party, Joseph Daul has reacted by expressing his concern about the state of democracy in Albania.

“I am concerned about the state of Albania’s democracy. Any future elections must be free and fair, buying votes is unacceptable. Rights of opposition must be respected in parliament. More efforts needed to fight crime and corruption, including implementing decriminalisation law”, Mr. Daul declared yesterday. /ibna/
