Amid tense debates on employment in Albania, the Institute of Statistics published on Friday the Survey on Labor Force for 2015. According to it, compared to 2014, employment in Albania has grown by 4,8%. “In 2015, the number of employed people in Albania was 1 million and 87 thousand. Compared to the previous year, employment rose by 4,8%. The level of participation in the labor force by the population aged 15-64 is 64,2%”, INSTAT survey suggests. For men from 15 to 64, the level of participation in the labor force is 18,3% higher than for women.
Yesterday, on the occasion of the opening of the 2016 Job Fair, PM Edi Rama accused previous governments of sponsoring a massive laziness among Albanians. But, the head of the opposition, Basha said that unemployment in Albania relates to economic destruction, high taxes, with crime that rules and keeps investors away, with corruption and that Edi Rama is responsible for all of this. “Today, there’s only one work site fully operational. Theft, looting and robbery”, Mr. Basha said.
Two years ago, when he came to power, PM Edi Rama declared that his government would employ 300 thousand people, a figure that the right wing government considered to be an exaggerated figure and impossible to be implemented. When there’s little more than a year from the holding of general elections, the government says that it has employed 175 thousand people, but the opposition insists that the figures are not genuine. /balkaneu.com/
