US embassy to Kosovo has encouraged the political class in the country and the citizens of Kosovo, to make sure tomorrow’s protest is a peaceful one.
Through a press statement issued today, the embassy says that the citizens are entitled to protest, but economic development, creation of new jobs, migration, cross ethnic relations are challenges that require the engagement of everyone.
“US embassy encourages the government, opposition parties and citizens to show their joint commitment for the future of Kosovo by making sure that protests are held in a peaceful manner. Citizens are entitled to address their requests for the government and the government has the obligation to hear them and answer”.
“Economic development, creation of jobs, illegal migration, rule of law, corruption and regional and ethnic relations, are serious and complicated challenges which require a wider engagement and efforts including institutions, opposition, civil society and mediums”.
The US embassy says that violent protests do not help Kosovo.
“Violence prevents the development of Kosovo and veers off attention from issues which are more critical for the country. Constructive behavior is the only way that Kosovo can move forward”, reads the press release issued by the US embassy to Pristina. /ibna/
