ELSTAT: Trade deficit drops by 6.9% in March

The trade deficit for the period January-March 2016 amounted to 4401.7 million euro (4803.5 million dollars) compared to 4730.4 million euro (5241.9 million dollars) over the same period of the year 2015, a decrease of 6.9%. According to the announcement, the corresponding change excluding oil increased by 279.3 million euros, ie 7.6%.

The total value of imports – arrivals during the month of March 2016 amounted to 3630.9 million euro (4018.3 million dollars) compared to 4375.6 million euro (4727.9 million  dollars) in the same month of the year 2015, showing a decrease of 17%. The corresponding change excluding oil fell by 72.7 million euro, ie 2.4%.

The total value of exports – consignments, in the month of March 2016 amounted to 2095.7 million euro (2333.2 million dollars) compared to 2364.5 million euro (2570.4 million dollars) in the same month of 2015 showing, a drop of 11.4%. The corresponding change excluding oil fell by 5.2 million euros, ie 0.3%.

The trade deficit during the month of March 2016 amounted to 1535.2 million euros (1685.1 million dollars) compared to 2011.1 million euro (2157.5 million dollars) in the same month of 2015, a fall of 23.7%. The corresponding change excluding oil fell by 67.5 million euro, ie 4.7%.

The total value of imports – arrivals in the period January-March 2016 amounted to 10122.5 million euro (11129.8 million dollars) against 11011.8 million euro (12322.2 million dollars) in same period of 2015, a decrease of 8.1%. The corresponding change excluding oil increased by 271.3 million euro, ie 3.3%.

The total value of exports – consignments during the period January-March 2016 amounted to 5720.8 million euro (6326.3 million dollars) compared to 6281.4 million euro (7080.3 million dollars) in same period of year 2015, a decrease of 8.9%. The corresponding change excluding oil fell by 8.0 million euros, ie 0.2%.

The monthly figures od intra-Community transaction have been adjusted to all intra-Community transactions, including transactions below the statistical threshold, based on the Summary Tables of Intra-Community Deleveries and Acquisitions tabled by companies to the Ministry of Finance. Similarly, in the monthly trade dfigures with third countries, have been incorporated and the provisional figures of “incomplete customs declarations”, which after their completion will be replaced by the corresponding once definitively.
