An electronic payment system of the road tax will be introduced in FYROM in 18 months. Minister of Transport and Communication, Mile Janakievski warned that in 18 months, everything will be ready in the highway system to introduce the electronic equipment for the payment of this road tax.
“Initially, this system will only apply for the highway which is part of Corridor 10. Cars will use their smart cards which are registered in the payment posts. These cards can be bought in payment posts, while in the second phase, they can be bought in petrol stations”, declared minister Janakievski.
The investment for the electronic system will be implemented by the Turkish company “Aselsan”, a project with a cost amounting to 18,7 million Euros. /ibna/
