Democratic Party of Albania is still not a member of the European People’s Parties. Such reiterated request of the largest Albanian opposition party is expected to be discussed in the Political Assembly of the European People’s Party (PPE).
Sources within EPP said today that they will discuss the request of the Democratic Party to become a full member . Present in this meeting will also be the leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha. Basha is expected to hold meetings with EPP senior officials, and also officials from the European Parliament and European Commission.
Before his departure, Mr. Basha said that EPP is expected to give “a great support for a joint action to stop what this government is doing to democratic standards”.
Mr. Basha says that discussions will focus on the “June 21 elections, where Albanians were deprived of free elections from Rama and Meta , where they were subject to the purchase of ballots and the discussions will also focus on the government’s stubbornness not to remove criminals from parliament along with the economic crisis which is obliging thousands of Albanians to leave the country every month”. /ibna/
