Today’s a holiday in FYR Macedonia, as orthodox believers celebrate the Black Friday orthodox feast.
Easter symbolizes the resurrection of Christ, after his crucifixion and it’s the most sacred holiday for Christian believers. Based on the biblical interpretation, the resurrection of Christ marks the passage from death to life, from great Friday (when Jesus Christ dies after many sufferings and after he’s crucified) to Easter Sunday (when he resurrects).
The head of the Orthodox Church of Macedonia, archbishop of Ohrid and Macedonia, Stefan, sent a message today to all Orthodox believers on the occasion of Easter.
“Like God loved us and made an example of this we must also love each other and do to others what we want others to do to us. Let us rejoice and with this joy, let us witness the triumphing resurrection, today and in the days to come!”, said the head of the Macedonian Orthodox Church, Stefan in his message on the occasion of Easter.
Religious ceremonies have been held all over the country, while in Skopje, the main ceremony is held in the Central Orthodox Church.
Easter celebrations have started today, to continue until Monday, which marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The next few days until Monday are a state holiday in FYR Macedonia. There have been messages of congratulation by the president, prime minister, speaker of parliament and representatives of political parties and other institutions. /ibna/
