Review by Christos T. Panagopoulos –
In August Dubrovnik was nominated for the title of the eight wonders of the world, a competition organized by the travel website virtualtourist.com. The city found itself pitted against dozens of national parks, modern architectural achievements, historic monuments and breathtaking panoramas.
And yet with all this stiff competition Dubrovnik has once again been recognized as a wonder of the world. With the results of the voting just in Dubrovnik finished a very healthy tenth on the list of wonders of the world. The overall winner was the Torres Del Paine national park in Chile.
The travel website described Dubrovnik as “the pearl of the Adriatic”. The city was included in the UNESCO list as a great example of a late-preserved medieval fortified city.
