As of July this year, Italian EU presidency will support every effort of FYR Macedonia in its EU perspective. This was highlighted today in Skopje by the deputy foreign minister of Italy, Benedeto Della Devoda
“The priorities of the Italian presidency of the EU, which will start as of July until December 2014, will consist on enlargement policies. Enlargement policies are also one of the main priorities of the Republic of Italy and we will seriously engage to support countries of the Western Balkan in order for them to be integrated as soon as possible in the European Union”, declared Devoda after the meeting that he had with deputy prime minister for European Integration of FYROM, Fatmir Besimi.
Italian deputy foreign minister also said that Italy will support Skopje in its efforts to address pending issues and in the commitment of the government to launch EU accession negotiations.
On the other hand, deputy prime minister Besimi praised the support of Italy during its EU presidency.
“We praise this support and integration is the main strategic priority of our country. We’re committed in implementing the reforms and meet all accession criteria”, underlined Besimi.
Both personalities also discussed about the intensification of bilateral relations between the two countries, in the economic and cultural domains. /ibna/
