Deputy prime ministr, Niko Peleshi, responded to the media today in relation to the situation at the Bank of Albania.
At the end of today’s parliamentary session, Peleshi declared that the functioning of the Bank of Albania has not been hindered, while as far as the election of the new governor is concerned, after the arrest of Ardian Fullani, he declared that the president of the Republic must act according to the law about the proposal of the new governor.
“There are legal deadlines within which parliament must offer its opinion. There’s no room for panic, the functioning of the Bank of Albania has not been hindered even with the remaining number of those who are still in duty. The president is part of the process through the proposal of the new governor. The Albanian government is interested for the Bank of Albania to come out stronger and more solid from this process”, said Peleshi.
According to him, the government has no intention on controlling independent institutions.
Peleshi also appealed for the opposition to come back to parliament and offer its opinion about the bills which are expected to be voted. /ibna/
