Former deputy chairman of the SP sees the governing coalition with SMI as a pact between gentlemen

Former deputy chairman of the Albanian Socialist Party, the main figure of the SP following the imprisonment of the former leader Fatos Nano in 1992, Servet Pellumbi, considers the left wing governing coalition more as an agreement between individuals, Rama and Meta, than an idea based coalition.

In a media statement issued today, Servet Pellumbi said that “the SP-SMI coalition is more of an agreement between gentlemen than a coalition built on principles, ideas, programs and joint responsibilities”.

Asked about a reshuffling of the governing cabinet, Servet Pellumbi says that the cabinet reshuffling is not an objective in itself, but he says that such possibility must not be ruled out.

Pellumbi believes that as far as internal organization and elections at all levels of the SP are concerned, the election of the leader of the Socialist Party by the Congress or through the principle “one member, one vote” must not be avoided. According to him, this would be a serious mistake and would cause schisms. /ibna/
