Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa has insisted today that Kosovo must ratify the demarcation agreement with Montenegro, signed last August.
He said that citizens and MPs “must know that demarcation is our obligation in front of the international community for the liberalization of the visa regime”.
“It is not a price for the liberalization, because nobody has said that Kosovo’s territory is being given for the visas. But if demarcation is not done, Kosovo may lose the chance of moving without visas. Meanwhile, there is also a threat that Kosovo enters a cycle whereby individuals could cause border incidents with a neighboring country, which is a NATO member”, Mustafa said.
According to him, the process of demarcation doesn’t end with its ratification.
Prime Minister’s Mustafa comments followed the strong reactions by Montenegro.
Montenegrin Foreign Ministry has sent a note of protest to Kosovo for the placement of the Albanian flag and signs with “Republic of Kosovo” and “Welcome” written on them by Self Determination MPs in the territory of Montenegro.
In this note of protest, Podgorica demands Kosovo to prevent such activities, because according to them, this challenges the agreement signed in Vienna in 2015. /balkaneu.com/
