Delta will reopen it routs on March 30, 2015 with five flights a week, which will increase to seven per week (one day) from May 2.
From June 3, 2015, it will add extra flights, reaching a total of 11 per week. During the summer months with high demand, Delta will offer 5900 seats every week between Greece and the US. All flights from Athens will be conducted in collaboration with the consortium Air France-KLM and Alitalia.
“The World Tourism Organization of the United Nations recently confirmed the importance of tourism to the Greek economy and the Delta is proud to support it, connecting Athens to New York – one of the most important travel and commercial hubs of the world”, said Perry Cantarutti, Delta’s vice president for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
“We hope that by increasing the frequency of flights next year, we will be able to serve an even greater number of leisure and professional travelers, as Greece continues its economic recovery”.
According to the Association of Greek Tourist Enterprises (SETE), in 2013 about 755,000 American tourists visited Greece, up by 35% compared to the previous year.
