A debate has taken place today in the parliament of Kosovo regarding the country’s telephone code.
Self Determination Party MP, Albin Kurti said that the government should apply to ITU for the code and not hold talks with Serbia.
“This process doesn’t go through Belgrade or Vienna. There are states which aren’t UNO members, but they are members of ITU. During the talks, the government of Kosovo has been aware of Self Determination’s stance”, Kurti said.
Meanwhile, opposition leader, Visar Ymeri has asked MPs to vote the resolution which proposes the government for the country code to be demanded by Albania, based on the 2012 resolution voted by parliament.
Meanwhile, PM Isa Mustafa said that Kosovo will have its own country code.
“The code will belong to Kosovo and Kosovo will be the owner of this code. We will manage this code, the server will be in Kosovo and Kosovo’s Telecom will connect us with the world through this code”, Mustafa said.
As far as the resolution with Albania is concerned, he said that he has been informed that there has been dialogue with Albania, but dialogue didn’t yield any results and parliament was briefed on this. /balkaneu.com/s
