The National Directorate for the Fight against Corruption (DNA) has acted on its own initiative following the Rise Project’s revelations about Dan Barna, according to a report citing judicial sources. Prosecutors are investigating in rem the case of fraud with European funds. In rem research is about facts, not figures.
USR President Dan Barna said yesterday he was not informed by DNA prosecutors about the launch of an investigation following the report published on the Rise Project platform. If they call me, that is fine. I did not take anything. If they started the verification process, good for them. I even asked DNA to cross-check the facts”, he told Mediafax. Last week, Rise Project published an article accusing Dan Barna’s company of failing European programs, and that he “was aware of cases of fraud and conflict of interest with EU funds ivolved”.
Dan Barna then asked DLAF to send the documents to DNA as a matter of urgency, citing a “political mandate”. He said that everything was good about the programs and that he answered openly all the questions from Rise’s reporters, from his USR colleagues and from all those who asked for details. /ibna
