“It is evident that there is a policy continuation of all Albanian politicians, no matter which region they come from, with which they are seeking to turn the Prizren platform into a single Albanian state”, stated Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic during a joint press conference with his Greek counterpart Nikos Kotzias at the Greek Foreign Ministry.
More specifically, following an IBNA question on whether he is optimistic for stability in the region after the elections in Kosovo, FYROM and Albania or whether he fears the creation of a Great Albania, Dacic stated:
“It is evident that there is a policy continuation of all Albanian politicians, no matter which region they come from, with which they are seeking to turn the Prizren platform into a single Albanian state. This is a major threat to stability in the region, not just for the region but also for the whole of Europe. That is why I am sure that the elections held in Kosovo and in Metohija will not bring stability, because whoever is elected prime minister, whether it is Haradinaj or Kurti, we are unfortunately speaking about the same thing and we can not say who will be better but who will be the worst for Serbian interests, namely the interests of the Serbian population living there.
I belong to the category of politicians who do not want early elections. Because if elections were constantly held, the Vatican would also like them and not choose a person for life, as is also the case in our own Church. So I think there shouldn’t be constant elections. In the case of Serbia, we also had elections that brought political stability, and we hope it will happen in the whole region as well.
Now we also have the Western Balkans and EU Summit to be held on the 12th of the month in Trieste and hosted by Italy. We believe that Greece should also participate in this Summit because this would be important for the symbolism and support of Greece to both Serbia and all the countries of the Western Balkans.”/IBNA
