Dacic: Liasion officers are not ambassadors

Pristina, June 17, 2013

Prime Minister of Serbia, Ivica Dacic has considered the opening of liasion officers between Belgrade and Pristina a proof that Serbia is implementing the Brussels agreement.

“The opening of liasion offices is one of the results of the dialogue that we have conducted. We have agreed to exchange liasion officers at the EU mission office in Pristina and Belgrade”, said Dacic. According to him, “this is also a proof for Serbia as far as the accession date in June is concerned.”

Dacic didn’t want to consider the liasion officers “ambassadors”. “Liasion officers don’t have a diplomatic status and they’re not ambassadors. Their work consists on the facilitation of the implementation of the agreement for the normalization of reports between Serbia and Kosovo. There must not be equivocs about this issue”, said Dacic. /ibna/
