Dacian Ciolos is the former Romanian prime minister who led the technocrat government in 2016 and now, having launched a new political party, the Romania Together Movement (Miscarea Romania Impreuna) announces that he would be interested in running for president in the 2019 presidential polls.
Romanian media report that his main aim is to safeguard and defend democratic values and institutions in the country even after the 2019 elections. Furthermore, he hopes to give the chance of option to his people, by showing them that through his party, there is an alternative, Ziare.com read. An alternative that he will officially and formally present to the Romanian public in the coming fall.
Ciolos, as noted in the Ziare.com considered the poor turnout at the parliamentary elections in December 2016 as a sign of people tired with the political scene in the country.
“He doesn’t rule out an alliance with political forces that share his party’s views but thinks that these forces should come up with a positive project and that being anti-PSD (the current ruling party) is not enough anymore”, romania-insider.com said…. / IBNA
