Cyprus’ trade deficit up 4.7% yoy in January-August 2017

The trade deficit for the period January-August 2017 increased 4.7% yoy, according to data of the Statistical Service of Cyprus (CyStat), announced in the monthly electronic publication “Intra-Extra EU Trade Statistics (by commodity and country)”.

Total imports in January – August 2017 amounted to €4.900,7 mln as compared to €4.568,6 mln in the same period of 2016. Total exports in January – August 2017 were €2.007,1 mln compared to €1.811,2 mln in January – August 2016. The trade deficit was €2.893,6 mln in January – August 2017 compared to €2.757,4 mln in the corresponding period of 2016.

Total exports of domestically produced goods, excluding stores and provisions, in January – August 2017 were €821,1 mln compared to €558,6 mln in January – August 2016. Total domestic exports of industrial products in January – August 2017 were €741,2 mln compared to €471,1 mln in January – August 2016. Total domestic exports of agricultural products in January – August 2017 were €75,5 mln compared to €79,8 mln in January – August 2016./IBNA
