The UN Security Council, chaired by Belgian Permanent Representative Marc Pecsteen de Buytswerve, held a closed consultation on the issue of Libya on Wednesday, February 26 in the afternoon. At the end of the session, the Security Council President was asked by a journalist whether the Security Council discussed the issue of Varosha following the conference held in the occupied territories on 15 February and what the body’s reaction was on the subject.
In his reply, the President of the Security Council noted:
“The Security Council did not discuss this issue today, but we were informed of the developments through a letter and what I can say is that the Security Council’s position is very clear. The Security Council made a statement last October and its position has not changed since then”. /ibna
