Based on data by the District Labor Offices, the number of registered unemployed at the end of November 2020 was recorded at 32,968 . Based on seasonally adjusted data calculating the unemployment trend, the number of registered unemployed in November 2020 decreased to 31,285 persons compared to 34,997 in the previous month.
Compared to November 2019, there was a surge of 8,473 persons or 34.6%, mainly attributed to the sectors of trade (increase by 2,142), professional, scientific and technical activities (increase by 747), construction (increase by 690), manufacturing (increase by 629), education (increase by 611) and new entrants to the labor market (increase by 866).
It is pointed out that, according to information by the Department of Labor, the comparison of the data from March 2020 onwards with the data of previous months is not considered objective. This is due to the implementation by the Public Employment Service of the emergency measures announced by the Ministry of Labor, Welfare and Social Insurance for automatic renewals of the registered unemployed and new registrations of unemployed without physical presence, in order to avoid the spread of coronavirus. /ibna
