Cyprus natural gas deposits draw the interest of Egypt, Jordan

The interest of Egypt and Jordan to buy natural gas from the deposits of Cyprus starting 2018, revealed the Cypriot Minister of Energy George Lakkotrypis, after his meeting today with the President of the House of Representatives, Yiannakis Omirou.

Lakkotrypis informed the president of the Cyprus House of Representatives about the latest developments in matters relating to energy, in view of the interparliamentary delegation visit to Jordan.

The Cypriot minister said that there is great interest in the meeting of the president of the Republic, Nikos Anastasiades, with the president of Egypt in New York, on the sidelines of the General Assembly of the United Nations.

In the same context, a tripartite meeting of Greece – Cyprus – Egypt is expected to take place on issues of cooperation in the gas sector.
