The foreign minister of Cyprus, Ioannis Kasoulides, had a visit to Montenegro during which he met with his counterpart Igor Luksic, while he was also received by the Prime Minister of Montenegro Milo Dukanovic and the Speaker of Parliament Ranko Krivokapic, in Podgorica.
The visit served to enhance the traditionally friendly bonds of friendship between the two countries with the signing of new bilateral agreements on energy issues, and the further exploitation of existing ones, according to a press release that was issued yesterday in Cyprus.
Kasoulides expressed Cyprus’ support for Montenegro’s European perspective, offering to provide technical assistance and expertise from Cyprus’ own experience. Another issue concerning the EU was the possibility of a cooperation between small member states within the EU.
Other issues on the agenda were the issues concerning the Western Balkans and the Southeastern Mediterranean region, as well as the exchange of opinions regarding the recent developments in Ukraine.
Finally, the Cypriot FM had the chance to brief the Montenegrin officials on the recent developments on the Cyprus problem and the resumption of substantive talks.
