Cyprus Government Spokesman Nicos Christodoulides issued a statement according to which, Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had a telephone conversation on Tuesday, discussing a possible cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy.
“During their conversation the two leaders discussed about issues of mutual concern, such as energy and a possible cooperation between Cyprus and Israel in this field, as well as about the political developments in the broader region of the Eastern Mediterranean and in Iraq,” the statement notes, while it also mentions that “the leaders agreed on a visit by the Israeli PM in Cyprus the soonest possible. The exact date will be determined through the diplomatic route,”.
During their conversation Anastasiades briefed Netanyahu on the developments on the Cyprus matter, while the Israeli Prime Minister briefed the President of Cyprus on the kidnapping of three Israeli teenagers.
