President of the House of Representatives, Dimitris Syllouris, received on Tuesday the Israeli Communications Minister, Ayoob Kara, who is paying a two-day visit to Cyprus. The minister was accompanied by Deputy General Manager of his ministry, Mymon Shmila, the Deputy Embassy of Israel in Cyprus, Sami Abu Janeb and other high-ranking officials.
At the meeting, Syllouris and Kara reaffirmed the special importance that Cyprus and Israel attach to further tightening their relations and co-operation through practical steps. The framework of this cooperation at interparliamentary level, Syllouris noted, has already been put forward with the recent organization of the 2nd Tripartite Meeting of Speakers of Cyprus – Greece – Israel Parliaments, hosted by the House of Representatives on 2 November, as well as the one preceded by Israel 1st Meeting earlier this year and the routing of specific joint actions concerning, inter alia, the areas of entrepreneurship, research and education, and water management.
Syllouris and Kara also exchanged views on the latest developments in the wider Middle East region, focusing on the potential offered by strengthening economic relations and exchanges to achieve the objective of peace, stability and security./IBNA
